Carthage missouri is situated in the southwestern portion of the state about 20 miles from joplin. Carthage marble would grow to become the largest marble quarrying and finishing concern west of the mississippi river. At one time we were the largest gray marble quarry in the world. This is great for counter tops flagging sculpting and landscaping.

Facilities included the quarry a crushing plant two marble saw mills and two marble finishing plants. In fact our bluish grey tinted marble can still be found in missouri s capital building as well as in many of the federal buildings across this country. Initially founded in 1888 our company incorporated in 1926 as the carthage marble corporation. It is in the heart of the lead and zinc mining district of the southwest but is known as well for its deposits of limestone which are extensively worked for building purposes. The open pit covers over 10 acres and provides access to a variety of unique sandstone formations. Granite marble and limestone were quarried for construction and decorative art across the classical world.

Known for its toughness and durability granite was perfect for the pharaohs burial tombs. The kipton quarry is a 56 acre sandstone quarry located in north central ohio. In phenix missouri the company owned and operated the napoleon grey marble quarry. However we still have a large inventory of un cut and cut stone.
